U.P. CM Yogi Adityanath Announces New ‘Youth Policy’

Governance & Public PolicyPolicy Analysis

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the formulation of a new Youth Policy aimed at creating a structured framework for the development, employment and empowerment of young people in the state.

The proposed policy is expected to give greater emphasis to skill development, employment generation, entrepreneurship and Artificial Intelligence (AI). A dedicated institutional mechanism is likely to be established to coordinate youth-oriented programmes and improve their implementation across Uttar Pradesh.

The policy is expected to align youth development initiatives with emerging economic opportunities and the changing requirements of the employment market. Special attention to AI and technology-driven skills could help young people prepare for new-age sectors while strengthening the state’s wider digital and knowledge economy.

Entrepreneurship is also likely to form an important component of the framework, with measures aimed at encouraging young people to pursue self-employment and innovative business ventures. Skill-oriented interventions could further strengthen employability by connecting training programmes with industry requirements.

The announcement reflects the state government’s focus on transforming Uttar Pradesh’s large youth population into a productive demographic asset. By bringing skill development, employment, technology and entrepreneurship under a coordinated policy framework, the proposed Youth Policy could provide a more integrated approach to youth governance.

The policy is expected to be formally detailed through its implementation framework, institutional structure and specific programmes. Its effectiveness will ultimately depend on coordinated execution, measurable outcomes and sustained access to opportunities for young people across the state.
