Yogi Government Tightens Compliance Under Ayushman Scheme
The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has intensified its monitoring of healthcare institutions operating under the Ayushman scheme to ensure transparency, accountability and quality in beneficiary services. The government has directed that strict action be taken against hospitals and healthcare providers found violating prescribed guidelines.
The strengthened enforcement framework provides for stringent penalties in cases of illegal recovery from beneficiaries, fraudulent billing, incorrect beneficiary identification and other irregularities. Separate penalties have been prescribed for first, second and third violations, with the objective of ensuring compliance and preventing repeated malpractice.
Hospitals may also face action for raising bills without providing the corresponding treatment, submitting incorrect beneficiary details or carrying out procedures that are not medically justified. The government has further emphasised that unnecessary treatment and deficiencies in prescribed quality standards will not be tolerated under the scheme.
The measures are aimed at protecting beneficiaries from financial exploitation and ensuring that public healthcare funds are utilised effectively. By strengthening scrutiny of billing practices, treatment records and service quality, the government seeks to improve the credibility and efficiency of Ayushman scheme implementation across the state.
The enhanced compliance mechanism reflects the government’s focus on accountable healthcare delivery, strict financial discipline and beneficiary-centric governance. Healthcare institutions are expected to adhere strictly to scheme guidelines and maintain prescribed standards while providing cashless and quality treatment to eligible beneficiaries.
