BJP Announces State In-Charges for Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat Ahead of 2027 Assembly Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has undertaken a significant organisational reshuffle by appointing senior leaders to oversee party affairs in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The appointments, announced by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, are aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational preparedness and improving coordination in the poll-bound states.
For Uttar Pradesh, BJP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vinod Tawde has been appointed as the state in-charge, while Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel has been named co-in-charge. Uttar Pradesh is expected to be among the most strategically important contests for the party, given its political and electoral significance.
In Punjab, Satish Poonia, BJP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, has been assigned responsibility for party affairs. The appointment comes as the BJP seeks to strengthen its organisational network and electoral presence in the state ahead of the Assembly elections.
For Gujarat, Tarun Chugh, another senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP, has been appointed as the party’s state in-charge. His organisational and election-management experience is expected to support the party’s preparations in the state, where Assembly polls are due towards the end of 2027.
The appointments indicate an early emphasis on election management, grassroots mobilisation and organisational coordination. With the 2027 electoral cycle approaching, the BJP’s restructuring is expected to facilitate closer coordination between the central leadership, state units and grassroots cadres.
