India–Ethiopia Strengthen Strategic Partnership Through High-Level Talks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with Ethiopia. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation across key sectors and deepening engagement between the two countries.
The leaders reviewed the progress of India–Ethiopia bilateral relations and discussed opportunities to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest. India and Ethiopia have maintained close relations based on mutual respect, development partnership and people-centric cooperation. The leaders also underlined the significance of greater cooperation in multilateral forums, particularly on issues affecting developing countries and the Global South. India’s engagement with African nations remains an important component of its broader development diplomacy and its efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
The meeting provided an opportunity to identify new avenues for strengthening bilateral economic and strategic ties. Enhanced cooperation in digital technology, education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure can further support Ethiopia’s development priorities while creating opportunities for Indian enterprises.
The discussions also reflected India’s wider approach of building partnerships with African countries through capacity building, technology transfer and development-oriented initiatives. Both sides expressed interest in maintaining regular high-level exchanges and advancing mutually beneficial cooperation.
