Uttar Pradesh Launches ₹1,725 Crore Sardar Patel Skill and Employment Scheme to Create Job Opportunities Across 75 Districts
The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Kaushal Prashikshan Evam Rozgar Kshetra Vikas Yojana with an investment of ₹1,725 crore on October 31, 2026, marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The initiative aims to strengthen the state’s skill development infrastructure, improve workforce employability and establish dedicated Skill and Employment Zones across all 75 districts.
Under the first phase, Skill and Employment Centres are being established in five districts: Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Jhansi and Gautam Buddha Nagar. The government plans to extend the initiative to all 18 divisional headquarters before expanding it across the remaining districts. These centres will operate as integrated platforms, bringing youth registration, industry-oriented skill training and employment facilitation under one roof.
The programme will also address international employment opportunities by providing foreign-language training alongside job-specific skills. Young people aspiring to work in countries such as Japan and Germany will receive training according to the respective country’s industrial and professional requirements.
The initiative has attracted institutional and industrial partnerships including Tata Indian Institute of Skills, Ashok Leyland, CIPET, Minda, BBC Group, PTC and Avaada. These collaborations are expected to strengthen industry-linked training and improve access to employment opportunities.
Governance & Economic Impact
The scheme represents a shift towards an integrated employment ecosystem, connecting skill development directly with industry demand. By decentralising training infrastructure across districts, Uttar Pradesh aims to reduce the geographical gap between jobseekers, employers and vocational institutions.
Its long-term success will depend on industry participation, placement outcomes and the alignment of training programmes with emerging workforce requirements. The initiative could strengthen the state’s skilled labour pool, support industrial expansion and position Uttar Pradesh as a competitive destination for investment and employment generation.
The launch also gives a development-oriented dimension to Sardar Patel’s legacy by connecting national unity with youth empowerment and economic participation.
