IndianOil Brings PSU Recruitment into DigiLocker

NationalNews

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil) has become the first Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in India to issue Offers of Appointment through DigiLocker, introducing a paperless and digitally verifiable system for recruitment documentation.

Digital Appointment Letters, Verified at Source

Launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the initiative enables selected IndianOil candidates to receive their official appointment offers digitally through DigiLocker. Candidates can access their documents remotely without depending on physical copies.

A Digital Shield Against Recruitment Fraud

The initiative has a wider governance significance beyond reducing paperwork. Digitally issued and verifiable appointment documents can provide candidates with an additional mechanism to establish the authenticity of recruitment communications.

This is particularly relevant amid fraudulent recruitment advertisements and fake appointment letters issued in the names of major PSUs. IndianOil has separately advised candidates to verify recruitment communications through its official recruitment channels.

HR Transformation Moves Beyond Paperless Processes

The DigiLocker integration represents a shift towards digital-first employee onboarding, making recruitment documentation more accessible, secure and streamlined. It also reflects the growing use of government-backed digital infrastructure for delivering verified public-sector services.

Why It Matters

The move creates a potential template for wider adoption of DigiLocker-based recruitment documentation across the public sector. For candidates, it combines accessibility with document verification; for PSUs, it can reduce dependence on physical paperwork while strengthening the digital trail of recruitment processes.
