National Rozgar Mela Crosses 12.75 Lakh Appointment Letters, Expanding Mission-Mode Government Recruitment

The National Rozgar Mela has crossed a significant employment milestone, with more than 12.75 lakh appointment letters distributed across 20 editions since its launch in October 2022. The initiative, originally launched with a target of facilitating 10 lakh government recruitments, has evolved into a nationwide mission-mode mechanism for accelerating appointments against sanctioned vacancies.

The 20th edition, held on September 19, 2026, saw more than 51,000 appointment letters issued to newly recruited youth across government departments and organisations. The latest edition was conducted at 45 locations nationwide, with recruits joining departments including Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services, Revenue and Defence.

Policy and Governance Significance

The Rozgar Mela represents a shift towards time-bound and coordinated public recruitment, bringing multiple ministries and recruitment agencies into a mission-mode framework. Recruitment is undertaken through established mechanisms involving bodies such as the Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission and Railway Recruitment Boards.
