Defence Ministry Approves Transfer of DRDO Missile Technologies to Indian Defence Industry
The Defence Ministry has approved the transfer of technology for missile systems developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to Indian defence industries, marking a significant step towards strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing and supporting the country’s self-reliance in defence production.
The decision, approved by the Defence Minister, is aimed at enabling Indian defence companies to access and utilise technologies developed by DRDO for the production of advanced missile systems. The initiative is expected to facilitate wider participation of the domestic private sector and defence manufacturers in the country’s defence ecosystem.
The transfer of technology is part of the government’s broader focus on promoting Atmanirbhar Bharat in Defence by increasing indigenous design, development and manufacturing capabilities. It is also expected to support the expansion of India’s domestic defence industrial base and reduce dependence on imported defence technologies.
The move will provide Indian defence industries with an opportunity to manufacture systems based on indigenous technologies and contribute to the armed forces’ future requirements.
