Avantel Secures ₹117.88 Crore DRDO Contract for Ground Segment Hub
Hyderabad-based defence technology company Avantel has secured a contract worth ₹117.88 crore from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the development and establishment of a Ground Segment Hub. The contract represents a significant step towards strengthening India’s indigenous defence communication and satellite-based infrastructure.
The Ground Segment Hub is expected to support critical communication and data-handling requirements associated with defence and space-based systems. Such infrastructure plays an important role in enabling reliable connectivity between satellite assets and ground-based defence networks, thereby improving operational coordination, information exchange and system integration.
The contract is aligned with the Government of India’s broader objective of promoting Aatmanirbhar Bharat in defence, with greater emphasis on domestic design, development and manufacturing capabilities.
