SBI Launches CETA Facilitation Desk to Strengthen India-UK Trade
The State Bank of India (SBI), through its UK operations and London Branch, has launched a dedicated India-UK CETA Facilitation Desk to support businesses in leveraging opportunities arising from the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). The initiative is aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment by providing financial solutions, market-entry assistance and business connectivity.
The Facilitation Desk will provide tailored banking support to UK businesses seeking to enter the Indian market, including trade finance, working capital and term-loan facilities. It will also assist businesses with market-entry guidance, identification of potential locations and introductions to relevant Indian counterparts. Similarly, Indian businesses expanding into the UK will receive support through trade finance, export finance, bill discounting and guidance on potential sectors and markets.
The initiative assumes significance following the implementation of the India-UK CETA on 15 July 2026. The agreement provides enhanced market access and tariff benefits, with nearly 99% of Indian exports to the UK receiving zero-duty access.
SBI’s Facilitation Desk is expected to improve access to financial services and business networks, reduce entry barriers for enterprises and encourage greater participation in cross-border trade. By combining SBI’s extensive domestic network with its international banking capabilities, the initiative can contribute to deeper economic integration and sustained growth in India-UK commercial relations.
