UP’s IT-ITeS Exports Cross ₹1 Lakh Crore, More Than Double in Five Years
Uttar Pradesh’s information technology sector has crossed a major economic milestone with exports of IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) exceeding ₹1 lakh crore in 2025–26. The achievement signals the state’s growing role in India’s digital economy and strengthens its ambitions to attract technology investments and create skilled employment.
According to figures released by the state’s IT and Electronics Department, Uttar Pradesh recorded IT-ITeS exports worth ₹1,01,970 crore in 2025–26, compared with ₹48,004 crore in 2020–21. This represents an increase of more than 112% over five years, with export value more than doubling during the period.
The figures have been compiled from units registered with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and special economic zone (SEZ) units operating in the state. Principal Secretary Alok Kumar said the sector’s expansion is expected to support additional investment and employment, particularly for technical professionals.
From Digital Infrastructure to Export-Led Growth
The milestone reflects the expanding importance of technology services in Uttar Pradesh’s economic transformation. IT and ITeS exports generate revenue through software development, IT support, business-process services and other technology-enabled activities, connecting local enterprises and professionals with global markets.
For the state, the next governance challenge is to convert export growth into a broader ecosystem of high-value employment, innovation and regional development. Strengthening digital infrastructure, improving industry-linked skill training and facilitating investment can help sustain this momentum.
Lucknow, Noida and Greater Noida are strategically positioned to benefit from further technology-sector expansion. However, long-term competitiveness will depend on the availability of skilled talent, reliable infrastructure and a supportive business environment.
Governance Perspective: Crossing the ₹1 lakh crore threshold establishes a significant benchmark for Uttar Pradesh’s digital economy. The next phase must focus on diversifying export markets, attracting higher-value technology activities and ensuring that the benefits of IT-led growth extend beyond established technology hubs.
