Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked 25 years of continuous service as the head of government by renewing the national resolve to build a developed India by 2047. Addressing the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha in New Delhi, Modi described the milestone as a responsibility arising from the trust of citizens and called for sustained collective effort rather than personal celebration.

Central to his address was the call, “We will do it,” which he presented as a renewed national confidence for achieving long-term development goals. He said India should aim to become one of the world’s top three economies while simultaneously strengthening self-reliance and establishing itself as a global manufacturing hub.

The Prime Minister also highlighted ambitions to host the Olympic Games and expand India’s capabilities in the space sector, placing technological advancement, manufacturing capacity and global competitiveness within the broader Viksit Bharat framework.

The six-goal approach places emphasis on economic scale, manufacturing strength, strategic self-reliance, global sporting capability and scientific advancement. The governance challenge now lies in translating these aspirations into measurable outcomes through policy continuity, infrastructure expansion, skilled human capital, innovation and stronger participation across states and sectors.

Modi also underlined the importance of inclusive development, arguing that challenges such as inadequate water or electricity affect citizens across social and community lines and therefore require solutions designed for everyone. With 2047 as the long-term horizon, the address positioned collective execution, public participation and sustained policy implementation as key components of India’s development strategy.

The significance of the announcement lies in its shift from commemorating a 25-year political journey to articulating a forward-looking national development agenda. The “We will do it” call seeks to frame the coming decades around execution, economic transformation and India’s positioning as a major global power by 2047.
