PM Modi to Inaugurate RBI’s Advanced Data Centre in Odisha, Boosting Financial Cybersecurity and System Resilience
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) newly established Data Centre and Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute near Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on October 25, 2026. The inauguration is scheduled for approximately 4:45 PM as part of his visit to the state. The project, estimated to cost ₹169 crore, marks a significant investment in strengthening India’s critical financial technology infrastructure.
Spread across approximately 18.55 acres at Info Valley-II in Jatni, the facility is designed to strengthen data management, disaster recovery, cybersecurity and operational continuity for the country’s central bank. It will complement RBI’s existing data infrastructure and support the secure functioning of critical financial systems.
The centre will house advanced computing infrastructure supporting mission-critical payment and settlement systems and other key RBI operations. It has received the Uptime Institute’s Tier IV certification, representing the highest tier of data-centre infrastructure resilience. This design aims to improve system availability and reduce the risk of disruptions caused by technical failures or emergencies.
The accompanying Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute will focus on specialised training, research and capacity building in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and quantum computing. It is expected to strengthen technological expertise across the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector.
Governance and Economic Impact
As India’s economy becomes increasingly dependent on digital payments and technology-driven banking, resilient financial infrastructure has become a strategic governance priority. The new facility is expected to strengthen business continuity, protect critical financial operations and improve preparedness against cyber threats and infrastructure disruptions.
For Odisha, the project reinforces Bhubaneswar’s potential as a hub for advanced technology and institutional infrastructure. More broadly, it reflects the importance of investing in secure digital systems to sustain financial stability and public confidence in India’s expanding digital economy.
