UP Exports Cross ₹2 Lakh Crore, Bhadohi Carpet Industry Strengthens Global Trade Footprint
Uttar Pradesh has crossed a major export milestone, with the state’s exports rising more than 2.27 times over the past decade to cross ₹2 lakh crore, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said. The development underlines the state’s growing role in India’s export economy and highlights Bhadohi’s contribution through its globally recognised handmade carpet industry.
Addressing the carpet sector during the launch of the 10th edition of India Carpet Expo, the Chief Minister said Bhadohi, once searching for a new direction, is now emerging as a centre of development, markets and economic opportunity. He highlighted the transformation in infrastructure, business conditions and market access particularly for artisans and exporters.
Bhadohi carpets have built a strong international market over decades, with demand extending across global destinations. The government’s emphasis on improving connectivity, infrastructure and business facilitation is aimed at enabling traditional manufacturing clusters to expand their market reach while creating employment and strengthening local value chains.
Yogi Adityanath said the government’s approach is to connect artisan skills with dignity, enterprise expansion and youth employment. He described Bhadohi as a convergence point of heritage and development, where traditional craftsmanship is being integrated with a broader export-oriented growth strategy.
The Chief Minister’s visit also carried a significant district-development agenda. In Bhadohi, 112 projects worth ₹1,340 crore were inaugurated or launched. These included 65 projects worth ₹440.84 crore inaugurated and 47 projects worth ₹899.27 crore for which foundations were laid.
The export milestone is significant for Uttar Pradesh’s economic strategy. Strengthening clusters such as Bhadohi can help diversify exports, improve artisan incomes, deepen MSME participation and position traditional manufacturing within global value chains.
