Nasha Mukt Yuva Campaign Scales Up: ‘Mera Swasthya, Mera Garv’ Reaches 400+ Locations

Governance & Public PolicyPolicy Analysis

The Government’s Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan has expanded its nationwide youth engagement through the ‘Mera Swasthya, Mera Garv’ initiative with health and wellness activities conducted at more than 400 locations across the country. The programmes, organised by MY Bharat and partner organisations, brought together over 2.5 lakh youth and citizens, strengthening the campaign’s focus on prevention, awareness and healthier lifestyles.

The initiative combines public health outreach with substance-abuse prevention, creating community-level platforms where young people can access information and participate in wellness activities. Health check-up camps, sessions with health experts and meditation programmes were organised at participating locations. These interventions placed physical and mental well-being alongside awareness of the harmful effects associated with substance abuse.

A key component was the Nasha Mukt Yuva Pledge, through which participants expressed their commitment to maintaining healthy and addiction-free lifestyles. The approach reflects a shift from one-time awareness messaging towards sustained youth participation and preventive engagement.

The programme forms part of a broader 100-week Nasha Mukt Yuva campaign, which was launched with nationwide youth participation in September 2026. The campaign framework includes successive themes around health, fitness, substance-abuse prevention and life skills, seeking to maintain continuous engagement through institutions, youth centres and communities.

Governance & Policy Impact

The scale of participation indicates an effort to integrate preventive health, youth mobilisation and community awareness into a coordinated governance framework. By combining health screening, expert interaction, wellness practices and public commitments, the initiative seeks to strengthen informed decision-making among young people. Sustained implementation across educational institutions and communities could help embed health-conscious and substance-free lifestyles within the wider youth-development agenda.
