UP Extends IndiaSkills Deadline to September 22, Strengthening the Skills-to-Employment Pipeline
Uttar Pradesh has extended the online registration deadline for the IndiaSkills Competition 2026-27 to September 22, giving more young people across the State an opportunity to enter a structured pathway linking vocational excellence with recognition, advanced training and employment opportunities.
The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has urged eligible youth to complete registration through the Skill India Digital Portal within the revised deadline. The extension is aimed at widening participation and enabling more candidates to demonstrate their technical and vocational capabilities.
IndiaSkills operates through a multi-level competition structure, beginning at the district level and progressing through divisional, State, regional and national stages. High-performing participants can subsequently get opportunities to represent India at international skill competitions such as WorldSkills.
The competition covers emerging and industry-oriented domains including Artificial Intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, Internet of Things, drones and coding, alongside established trades such as welding, beauty and wellness. This combination reflects the growing emphasis on both advanced technology skills and demand-driven vocational capabilities.
The programme also incorporates performance-linked recognition. At the State level, gold, silver and bronze winners receive ₹20,000, ₹15,000 and ₹10,000, respectively, while regional winners receive ₹75,000, ₹50,000 and ₹25,000. National-level achievers receive higher awards and recognition.
Beyond competition, IndiaSkills creates a broader skills-development ecosystem through training aligned with national and international standards, with support from institutions and industry experts. Former winners may also find pathways into roles such as trainers, assessors and ITI instructors.
For Uttar Pradesh, the initiative strengthens the policy link between skill certification, industry-relevant capabilities and career mobility, making the extended registration window significant for youth seeking structured skill-based opportunities.
