Incentive Scheme to Accelerate Domestic PNG Connections
The government is advancing efforts to expand domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections by introducing an incentive-oriented approach aimed at encouraging wider adoption of clean and convenient household energy. The initiative is expected to strengthen the transition towards a more reliable, efficient and environmentally sustainable urban energy system.
Under the proposed framework, incentives would encourage households to opt for PNG connections, particularly in areas where city gas distribution infrastructure is already available. The approach seeks to reduce dependence on conventional household fuels while promoting natural gas as a cleaner energy alternative.
The scheme is also expected to support City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities in increasing household connectivity and improving last-mile service delivery.
