Transparent Selection Process Strengthens Confidence in Merit-Based Public Recruitment

The appointment of candidates selected through the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board’s Clerical Cadre Direct Recruitment-2023 has brought the state’s merit-based recruitment framework into focus, with newly appointed candidates describing the process as transparent and free from recommendations or monetary transactions.

Candidates receiving appointment letters from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said their selections reflected sustained preparation and performance across different stages of recruitment. Their accounts underline the importance of a recruitment system in which written examinations, typing tests, medical examinations and final selection are conducted through defined procedures.

From Preparation to Public Service

Sanjeev Verma of Lucknow, selected as Sub-Inspector (Confidential), said the examination was conducted on November 2, 2025, with the result declared in March 2026. He described the recruitment process as fair and transparent.

Rajat Gupta of Lakhimpur Kheri, also selected as Sub-Inspector (Confidential) said this was his second selection in the Uttar Pradesh Police, following his appointment as a constable in 2020. He said transparency was maintained through the written examination, typing test and medical examination.

Candidates selected as Police Assistant Sub-Inspectors (Clerk and Accounts) similarly highlighted merit as the basis of their selection. Anju Bharti said she secured selection without recommendation or monetary transaction, while Darshana Bajpai said her appointment followed three years of preparation.

Governance Significance

The candidate experiences point to a broader governance objective: strengthening public confidence in competitive recruitment through procedural transparency and merit-based selection. For aspirants, such processes directly connect examination performance with access to government employment, while for the administration, credible recruitment mechanisms remain central to building an accountable and professional public workforce.
