PM Modi Calls for Transition from Endless War to Sustainable Peace
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated India’s strong commitment to peace, dialogue and diplomatic engagement, stating that the world must move from “endless war” towards an “end of war”. His remarks underline India’s consistent position that complex international conflicts should be addressed through dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful negotiations.
During his interaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin, PM Modi emphasised that prolonged conflicts have wider consequences for global stability, economic development, food and energy security, and humanitarian welfare. He stressed that every effort should be made to create conditions conducive to peace and ensure that disputes are resolved through constructive engagement.
India’s diplomatic approach reflects its broader foreign-policy principle of maintaining strategic autonomy while encouraging peaceful solutions to international challenges. New Delhi has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomacy in addressing the Ukraine conflict and has maintained communication with all relevant stakeholders.
The Prime Minister’s message also highlights the importance of responsible leadership by major global powers in reducing geopolitical tensions. According to India’s approach, sustained diplomatic engagement can help build trust, prevent escalation and create pathways towards durable peace.
The discussions between the Indian and Russian leadership also reflect the longstanding nature of bilateral relations. India and Russia maintain cooperation across several strategic and economic sectors, including energy, defence, trade, technology and civil nuclear cooperation. At the same time, India has continued to emphasise that international partnerships should contribute to global stability and development.
PM Modi’s emphasis on peace also aligns with India’s civilisational values associated with Mahatma Gandhi and Gautama Buddha, which place importance on non-violence, dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
The call to move from endless conflict towards sustainable peace represents India’s broader vision of a stable and cooperative international order. It reinforces the country’s diplomatic emphasis on dialogue, multilateralism and peaceful conflict resolution while safeguarding national interests.
