Textile Ministry to Organise IIHT SUTRA 2026 to Strengthen Handloom Education, Innovation and Industry-Academia Collaboration
The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is set to organise IIHT SUTRA 2026, the first national conference of the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT), on 12 August 2026 in New Delhi. The initiative is aimed at strengthening handloom education, promoting innovation and fostering closer collaboration between academic institutions, industry stakeholders and the handloom sector.
Organised by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms) under the Ministry of Textiles, the conference will provide a national platform for deliberations on emerging technologies, skill development, research, education and sustainable growth in the handloom ecosystem.
IIHT SUTRA 2026 is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange among students, faculty members, researchers, industry representatives and other stakeholders.
