Leh Leaders Call for Restraint, Dialogue and Adherence to 2025 Understanding
Two senior leaders from Leh have raised concerns over the conduct of recent “protest marches” and appealed to civil society bodies in Kargil and Leh to uphold the understanding reached in May 2025.
The leaders emphasised that the agreement was aimed at maintaining coordination, strengthening dialogue and addressing regional concerns through established mechanisms. They urged stakeholders to avoid actions that could create misunderstanding or affect the prevailing social harmony between the two regions.
The appeal comes amid renewed public mobilisation on issues concerning Ladakh’s governance, constitutional safeguards, employment opportunities and representation. The leaders stressed that differences should be addressed through peaceful consultations rather than confrontational approaches.
