Gujarat Set for Major Infrastructure Expansion as PM Modi Announces ₹35,000-Crore Project Push

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on September 8, 2026 where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stones for infrastructure projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore. The initiatives are aimed at strengthening rail and road connectivity while supporting long-term regional economic development.

A major component of the programme is the operational launch of three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). The improved freight network is expected to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce transportation bottlenecks and strengthen the movement of goods across western India.

The programme also includes new railway connectivity initiatives benefiting Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. In addition, highway development projects worth around ₹1,780 crore are part of the broader infrastructure agenda, with the objective of improving road connectivity and facilitating smoother movement of people and goods.
